Jumping on enemies merely stuns them, and a charging shoulder butt is his main means of attack. But Wario is a very different sort of character from his goodie-two-shoes doppelganger. Like Mario, Wario will shrink to a tiny, mohawked version of himself when hit, and much like Mario Land 2, he gains powers from various caps (though the turban and bunny ears are nowhere to be found). This is still a platform game like Super Mario Land 2, with some lingering vestiges of Mario's gameplay. It's interesting to see this transitional game, because it marks both the final game of the Super Mario Land series and the first of the Wario Land series, and not only in name. He's just an entertaining character to have on-screen. He's slow, morbidly obese, and I can't imagine he smells great, but he pulls it off with a confidence you have to admire. Wario's not really a bad guy, but he's only looking out for number one.

Initially thought of as a sort of Bizzarro Mario, it's now much more apparent that he's no one's man but his own. Wario's a tough sort of character to explain.
